Last weekend we had such wonderful weather that we decided to take a trip to the “Rheinhessische” with our ’73 Beetle.
True to my motto “combine the beautiful with the useful”, I had the idea to search for easter fountains.
Do you know that the tradition originally comes from Franconian Switzerland?
Recent research has shown that the Franconian Easter fountains are a deliberate recreation of customs in the late 19th or early 20th century (source: Wikipedia).
No matter how old this custom is – I find it beautiful!
Actually I wanted to fill the dozen, but not quite as many places had a decorated fountain as I originally thought “naively” 🙂
So here now my ” output “.
NIEDER-OLM
GAU ALGESHEIM
WOLFSHEIM
VENDERSHEIM
SULZHEIM
HAHNHEIM – “The Welly”
DEXHEIM
MOMMENHEIM
MAINZ – EBERSHEIM
ZORNHEIM
Conclusion
If you would like to get some more background knowledge about Easter customs in Rheinhessen, you are in good hands here at Rheinhessen.de.
Oh yes – maybe you miss the Easter fountain in Schwabenheim? Me too!
When I was there last Saturday, the fountain was unfortunately not decorated – maybe next year again?
Which fountain do you like best?
Do you know other places here in Rheinhessen that have a beautiful wells?
I am looking forward to your feedback!
